Feedsack pants & purses made from vintage & reproduction feedsacks
I'm not sure what this has to do with chenille but I make them and here they are. Feedsack pants, it just popped into my head one day. I also do feedsack purses. I wanted a cow purse from a vintage burlap feedsack. You guessed it, I couldn't stop. Here's my line of feedsack purses and pants. I don't think I have gone anywhere where someone hasn't commented on my bag. A flea market or antique show is something else, lots of comments on both the feedsack bags and feedbag pants. I had a lady in Fed ex ask me where I got my purse the other day.
The purses are all made from vintage feedsacks and probably have a flaw of some kind, I'll try and mention all flaws I see. All the feedsack purses have an iron on backing, some of them have several layers to stiffen them up. All the feedsack purses are lined and have pockets.
I've been making more feedsack pants but since it's so hard to find two vintage feedsacks in good condition I have been using reproduction feedbags for the feedsack pants. The feedsack pants are pretty much one size fits all with adjustable elastic in the waist band. All the pants have pockets, inside or outside and showing. These are so much fun to wear and so comfortable you won't believe it.

I FINALLY FOUND SOME REPRODUCTION COTTON FEEDBAGS TO WORK WITH. Here are several designs of feedsack pants I have ready to roll, more to come. Some of these have outside pockets and some have inside pockets, all have pockets. All are clam digger length. I have some shown with outside pockets, they might not be available with outside pockets but can be reproduced. If you prefer the inside pockets that is an option too. These are pretty much one size fits all. These feedsack pants are made with extra elastic to either pull on to decrease the waist size or snip the threads and it increases the waist size. They will easily fit up to a size 16 but look great on a size 8 or 10. These feedsack pants are priced at 40.00 each. They are all cotton and are sure to turn eyes. They are so comfortable you won't believe it. I just had a very nice lady buy a pair of them and her comment after she wore them was. They are soooo comfortable you can eat anything. I don't have a regular distributor for these bags and when they are gone, they are gone so buy them now. These reproduction bags were old stock of a crafter. They were all printed from the original pattern sack.
These feedsack pants are made from Park and Pollard growing feed. You can grow in these. One size fits all pretty much. I have left the elastic looped on the inside so it can be shortened or lengthened. The hips measure about 50", baggy on a small person but oh so different. You have to make these big to show off most of the sack. These are pretty long measuring 35". I did have to patch 3 holes, all on the inside of the legs and don't show when wearing. Two I patched with a round P&P symbol and one I patched with a plain patch. There is one inside pocket and one cargo pocket which also covers a repaired hole. I'm having a really hard time finding pairs of bags to make these great pants. Price $40.00
Yes, I like cow purses as you can tell at this point. I made this feedsack purse more round shaped with a flat bottom. It is lined with cow print fabric and has 2 pockets and a snap closure. It measures approximately 13" x 14" by 4 1/2" deep. The top sides are pulled together by rings that the handle is attached to. This has a worn spot just over the cows back but is bonded to the backing so it doesn't show much. SOLD Price $50.00 I have more of these feedsacks with this cow on it and can make a similar purse.
"LAY OR BUST" you have to love it. It shows a chicken laying eggs and one blowing up. It is lined with new red feather ticking and has a zipper closure. It measures 18 3/4" x 13 1/4" with 2 inside pockets. I made one of these for my sister, she does house sales and uses it to carry her paper work. It's a conversation piece. Price $45.00
